Consume Perth! - Restaurant Reviews
Went to Dux Cafe for dinner last night with Amy. www.duxrestaurant.com.au and the only thing we can think negative of the place was its unusual location. Not that it is particularly off the beaten path or a long drive to get to, just that all the surrounding businesses are not what you would expect next to a restaurant of this class.|
Dux Cafe was pretty much spot on my ideal dining experience.
The meals were delicious: I had a prawn and scallop linguini for entree followed by confit duck for main, Amy had the soup of the day (which was NOT pumpkin soup!) followed by rabbit for main. Neither of us could fault a thing, although Amy's soup was larger than expected, not to say that is in any way a bad thing.
The menu options were excellent: Not to say that it was a tome of every dish in creation, but rather it was short (total of 10 main options, 2 of which could be entrees) yet every dish was distinct not just a variation on a theme.
It was a small and quiet yet not crowded: est. 30-40 capacity. Conversation was easy and there was no need to yell over anyone.
The service was both quick and professional: Plates were cleared after finishing, new cutlery provided between courses, perfect break time between courses. Our waiter knew all the specials from memory and was able to reccomend an excellent wine for Amy which perfectly suited her main.
Good prices: Mains were around $35, entrees usually under $20, they have a set 3 course option for $65 ($55 if you join the Dux Club) To be honest with how happy I was with the quality of the meal and service I would have gladly paid more. Definitely value for money. Page A70 Gold section of the Entertainment Book.
